Support Ministries
Brotherhood -To support the church vision for engaging Christian men in supporting the church as a beacon in the community and a haven for the broader community at large.
Christian Education - To help inform the congregation of various subjects, advise on the different resources available, to implement different ministries, to set up workshops and implement new training for Sunday School and Bible Study. We also are to help the Pastor in any way possible with the education of the church.
Church Clerks
Church Interest Group - To stimulate and promote individual interest and participation in our FBCJP family. We strive to enhance the beautification of the whole church; to exchange and implement innovative ideas; to share experiences and establish fellowship with our church family; to support areas of need within our church and community; and to contribute financially to our church's growth.
Deacons - Our mission is assist the Pastor as consecrated servants of the Lord, and the congregation in promoting the Great Commission, and providing an atmosphere of unity and love.
Deaconess - Our mission is to be living link between our Pastor, church administrators, church family and community by bridging the gap in love through (prayer, visitation, instruction, guidance and communication), and to prepare the holy sacraments as well as candidates for baptism.
Decorating - To help beautify the church. Our mission is to help organizations/ministries with their projects being held in the fellowship hall. We set up and arrange tables and decorate them with floral arrangements. We beautify the windows of the church and restrooms. Keeping our church beautiful is our mission.
Elsie Holland Senior Missionary - To set an example as believers in Christ Jesus for others to see that will help them with their walk with God. We are to help our church members and others in the community by leading them to a closer walk with the Lord with humbleness and love. It is our responsibility to visit and call the sick and to help people in need. We are to spread the news to those who are lost that our God is a God of second chances, because God forgives and always shows a way for a new start.
Gleaners - To lift the tithes, offerings and other gifts and donations so they may be used to magnify and glorify God's kingdom here on earth. It is our duty to take part in our Pastor's vision of the Kingdom Connection. In addition to serving God, we want to be a blessing to our Pastor when serving other churches, community events and to provide support to the other ministries of the church especially the Usher Ministry
Grief - To balance out the Pastor's vision with helping our member and non-members to feel like they have a chance to continue grow even though they
have lost something important to them - the Word of God makes it plain that we are our brothers' keeper, when one hurt all should hurt.
Hospitality - To provide a positive and refreshing experience to any and everyone who enters our church doors. We support our pastor in the effort to enrich one life at a time through the word of God.
Junior Missionary - To serve as God's ambassadors to people in our church or community in need through outreach and community service. Our youth believe that we are to minister to persons in need, following the model of Jesus Christ and to lift His name throughout our church, community and the world.
Junior Ushers - To meet and greet our members and guests on the second Sunday and youth Sunday as they enter into the church. To continue to provide ushering services to our members and guests; greet with a smile; assist as needed; collection duties; and support to community activities. "Enter into HIs gates with thanksgiving and into HIs courts with praise."
Kitchen & Feeding - To serve God and to serve the church. In all we do, we give all honor to God. Our goal is to serve nutritious, healthy foods in order to keep our physical body healthy that we may serve God in a way that is pleasing to Him. We will endeavor to learn all that we can in preparing food and serving others. We will strive to meet each challenge with enthusiasm, as we continue to strive for excellence.
Media - To provide different forms of communications (CD/DVD/VIDEOS) to equip you through the spreading of the Gospel in becoming stronger disciples of Jesus Christ.
Music - To use music as a tool, by which we come together in corporate worship to glorify our God and King. In so doing it is a reflection of our daily walk, lifestyle and personal worship. We do not seek a certain style or to put on a show; we do however, strive to come together and give our very best to our Lord. He is the "audience of one". We believe that worship is a matter of the heart. "It came to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying, For He is good; for His mercy endureth forever; that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God. (2 Chronicles 5:13-24)
New Member's Class - To teach and reinforce the basics of Christian living; the principles of discipleship; the governing doctrines of the Baptist church and to help new members become full functioning and fulfilled members of First Baptist Church Jefferson Park.
Nurses - To assist the pastor and congregation when needed, as we as the community. We are to show understanding, passion, patients, and to do our best with the help of the Lord.
Parking Lot
Pastor's Support & Appreciation - Serve as advocates for the Pastor by demonstrating love and other acts of kindness to him and his family as well as sponsor and support his recognition celebrations, any spiritual growth opportunities, and champion his participation in missionary trips.
Praise Dance - To praise and worship God through dance using various forms of visual interpretation, including sign language and mime. The ministry wishes to express the meaning of God's words and good news through dance. In no form or fashion is it a performance. We wish to encourage the congregation's growth of praise and worship, and to experience a deeper communion with God through anointed dance. Psalm 149:3; Psalm 150.
Senior's - To be the instrument used to assure that our eldest church members remain socially and physically healthy, as well as spiritually sound. We strive to be a blessing to each other and our church family. It is our foresight to promote activities to keep our most fragile population active and involved with their peers.
Senior Ushers - To serve as ministers of hospitality. To arrive on time to greet both visitors and members with a warm genuine smile so that they will feel welcome and wanted. To assist with seating when needed, to accommodate the needs of the pastor and congregation so that worship can be done in peace, order, reverence and safety. To be alert at all times for any special instructions that may come from the pastor. To that end, all ushers will seek to glorify God as they serve and assist the people of God assembled for worship.
Sunday School - To serve the Lord Jesus Christ by teaching truths of the word of God to students of all ages. The scriptures are taught in an inactive setting whereby students are strengthened in his/her relationship with the Lord and given hope through the Word. Students learn to apply the Word to daily life and develop good study habits. It is our goal to "Train a child in the way he should go. When he is old - he will not turn away from it." Proverbs 22:6.
Transportation - To secure in transporting our members to church services, especially the elderly, non-drivers and any persons in need of transportation. We also serve the communities by showing love for God and one another through worship, fellowship and evangelism.
Trustee
The purpose of the trustee ministry first of all we must be men and women that fear God. In order to do all that we do to serve God, the pastor and this congregation in a manner that is pleasing to God. We must provide sound financial advice to the church, the pastor and the ministries to help growth of First Baptist church Jefferson Park. To provide the leadership, and skills needed to maintain the physical structure of FBCJP. To educate ourselves to the rules and laws and principles that apply to a non profit organization. We are servant, serving God, the pastor, this church and the community. To keep the legacy of this church for many generations to come.
Tutorial - To provide Free quality educational assistance to children in grades Pre-K thru 12 by helping them develop the tools they need for academic success in accordance with the school district's curriculum, to increase mastery of skills in Reading, Comprehension/Vocabulary, Math, Science, History/Social Studies, and SOL objectives for grades being tested.
Wedding Coordinators
Women Ministry: To meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the women at FBCJP and within the community. Our ministry is designed to encourage women to grow in their faith in Christ, to develop and strengthen intimate friendships with other women, and to provide opportunities to serve and reach our community for Christ.
Youth - To empowering and inspiring all young people to intentionally live whole lives as Disciples of Christ in a loving, welcoming, intergenerational and transformational community, which is rooted in the joys and traditions of the church and connected with the surrounding communities. We are dedicated to instilling the following values as part of our mission: acceptance, trustworthiness, sacrifice, social justice, prayer, Christian community, love, faith, fruits of the spirit; relevance to life now and community.
